"The man was an enigma, his eyes unreadable and his motives impossible to discern."
"He had very unusual eyes, the color of the ocean on a stormy day: they could look almost blue at times, and they could look very dark too."
That is literally the description of every second morally ambiguous character I've ever read. Like what's up with the eyes of main characters?
But whatever, I read a review that described Damiano as a cat and that is absolutely true. The amount of petting in this book is unreal and the fact that he sleeps on top of Jordan and that he started having feelings after getting nursed through an injury is proof enough.
What I disliked about the book is the fact that rape is used as an explanation for a character trait, like just don't do it.
“She was kidnapped by a Turkish mob that had a bone to pick with my father. She was raped for days. By the time she was recovered, she was already pregnant. Apparently, my father wasn’t sure if the child was his or the rapist’s, but the DNA test after the child’s birth confirmed that it wasn’t his."
