Debra St. John is a new author for me, so I wasn’t sure what to expect from One Perfect Night. The blurb with the book made it sound sweet and worth a try; I was not disappointed. Chloe, our heroine, was a character I could relate to right away and I could easily see myself in her situation. Our hero, Jason, was a little too perfect, but had just enough flaws to be believable.

Being a shorter novel, the author introduces us to Chloe, Jason, and their supporting cast as we move through the story in a way that really worked for me. The conversations between characters flowed well and seemed realistic for the people we had been introduced too. I do wish we knew a little more about the main characters, especially Chloe, I think it would have made the story even better.

The story moves quickly, making the most of the 125 pages. There are a few places where Chloe made me cringe a little because she seemed to really be pushing things. Jason’s responses and how that revealed his changing feelings is part of what I liked about him. The cringe worthy moments were offset for me by the fact that both characters seem to figure things out at about the same point in the relationship, even if it did take some drama for them to tell each other.

This was a quick, one afternoon read. My favorite thing about this book is that the author took us all to the end of the story and we got to see if they really did get their One Perfect Night.
