I liked the first part of a book better. Then I got tired of it. There are too many quotations to be a smooth story, too many jumps back and forth in time and the writing style is just so dry. I agree that a biographer must be unbiased and academic to make a good biographer. But a little bit more warmth would do good. I must admit though that I learned quite a lot about Astrid Lindgren’s life and I definitely understood more about her personality now, after reading a book, than I did before.

This is a good book, but feels a lot longer than it actually is. Astrid Lindgren’s life was interesting and this is a well-written account of it. But I kept putting it down and not really getting back into it. Now too much time has elapsed I was last reading it and I’m too distanced from the first half to get through the rest.

A solid biography, if a bit uncritical.

As a biography I found the book not so well written and I felt it was dragging a bit at some parts but Astrid Lindgren is such an incredible and interesting human being that in some way I enjoyed this biography and decided to finish it. I loved how many pictures there were -- I feel that good and interesting pictures are the best part of biographies. Now I have such a huge urge to reread all of my favourite Astrid Lindgren books because I haven't done it in ages.
