Reviews with content warning for Self harm - Fattily Ever After: A Black Fat Girl's Guide to Living Life Unapologetically

One of the most important books I've read, as it not only talks about the struggles and abuses related to the body positivity and fat acceptance movements, but critically comments on how this interacts with intersectional feminism. I have walked away from here learning a lot about the specifics back womxn face when it comes to body size, but also about myself and my relationship to my body, as a chubby brown woman. This book is written in conversational blog-like yet informative style and oozes with Steph's personality, much like talking to a friend. I think everyone should read this.

I am still working out what I think about this book. My initial response is that I wanted more, but what exactly I cannot say. I wanted it to go deeper and I wish it was longer, but perhaps that's just my general preference with books and it's not a fault of this book that it's different.

I felt overall that it was just okay. The author is someone I follow on social media and I enjoy her content, but this book just didn't really do it for me. Perhaps when I have a chance to unpack my own thoughts and feelings about it, i may update my review.
