Almost all the characters are Mary sues and very 1 dimensional. Doesn't seem to have any plot or conflict. Maybe one line of someone considering doing something bothersome to the mc but it was so boring and underwhelming I could not continue.

this is a new author to me and I gave this book 3.7 stars.
I enjoyed this story even though this is a genre a wouldn't usually read.
I cant wait to read the next book in this series as that cliffy has me hooked!

On the positive side, I enjoyed the world created on this book.
However, I have to admit I struggled with the way it is narrated. It felt rushed (for the most part) and the characters were just thrown away at the reader in a way that felt almost aggressive for me.
The story managed to keep me curious enough and that helped. Not sure if I am curious enough to continue with the series, even with the cliffhanger at the end...

I really struggled reading this book, I don't know if it was the writing or just something didn't click. For the first few chapters I was very confused about what was happening and the characters, we were shoved right into the story without really establishing the world first although that came I was still all over the place with this novel.

I couldn't really get on with the writing either, I can't tell you why. I just didn't.

I wanted to like the characters but I struggled to connect with them the one thing the author did well was the description and keeping a good balance of showing Helena as having sprouts of weakness and insecurity as well as strength and great leadership. I also loved the relationship but other than that I really did struggle with this book.

The writing style for this book was super dull and uninteresting.

Tropey and stage plot. Uninteresting characters. And boring story.

Thanks to the author for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I haven't had the urge to keep reading a book in a while. I was reading this during breakfast, during commercial breaks, I fell asleep with this book on the pillow next to me. I loved this book so much and I wanted to keep reading, it could've been double the pages for me! The book reminded me of Court of Mist and Fury in some aspects. I didn't mind, because I loved that book!

Such a promising debut and start of another great series that I hope to love one day. I believe this is a must-read for Fantasy lovers out there. The book isn't that long and it can get you into this new world pretty quickly. What are you waiting for? Dive in!

Really good first book for The Chosen series! I was really getting into the characters and their situation when the book ended on a cliff hanger so it was definitely worth the read. I did think that the beginning of the novel was pretty fast-paced and then there was a couple of pages/chapters that felt really drawn out. But I am excited to see what happens next because that cliff hanger was amazing!

Really enjoyable

I really liked it, there were some parts that were a bit cookie cutter but it's overall a fun fantasy.
