I am not sure what I‘m supposed to say… this is bad, astonishingly bad. 
I do tend to like emotionally distanced writing styles, this however was just horribly written. I think other people already gave a few examples in their reviews. 
The characters? No one is a real person, most importantly the women in this book are so obviously written by a man who does not consider women to actually be humans and not just a surface for men to project what they need to feel very much needed and important. 
Plot..what plot? I didn’t even learn anything about the time period or the war. 

Why would you read this (a so called love story, which is ridiculous) when there was already Austen by the time this was published… 

Oh to be able to become a world renowned author without actually being able to write one decent sentence… 

Just btw. the MC sexually assault his „love interest“ in the first 40 pages. Also use of the n-word.
