A lot to like about this book, but also a few gripes.
I liked that G Benson was able to write the enemies to lovers trope where I didn’t end up disliking one of the characters for the rest of the book. I liked the main characters and close friends. I liked that the main characters, once starting to fall for each other, actually communicated.
I did not likeWren publicly forcing Madison into the fake relationship. At numerous points, Wren is portrayed as a hapless pushover, but we are constantly told how good she is in those same types of situations. I did not like how characters, including Wren for almost the whole book, with their own platforms and power not only failed to act, but also advised others to refrain from acting when confronted with homophobia, sexism and other toxic actions.
Anyway, my feeling for the book is more positive than negative. I like that it was long. It really gave room for the characters to develop.
