I feel like I’m cheating on Silver Flames because I don’t know if I like this one better.

I love them equally.

Updated (6/1/22):
I enjoyed this so much more the second time. I think not having a lot of external opinions and expectations helped. But the complaints I had with the first read made more sense in the flow of the story the second time around. Though
I still agree the synth buying came out of the blue. It wasn’t necessarily out of character for Hunt.

First Read:
I had heard mixed reviews so I was tentative to start this book. It also took me a bit to get into the world of Crescent City. But once I got over that hump I thoroughly enjoyed the book.

It had some iffy points in the novel
- when Hunt lies about buying synth and Bryce is (understandably) upset, but turns around 2 minutes later trying to save him. It was missing some development of emotions. It felt very sudden to me.
- the fucking ending. Bryce saves the city and they immediately go home to fuck. Excuse me? No looking for other people (Ruhhn, Fury, Juniper, anyone). No let’s take stock of what’s happening. Just let’s go home and write a sex scene for these characters — yes it gets interrupted by Ember calling, but still.

The Epilogue though!! I want more of Jesiba and Adidas. They were both characters that made me very curious. Adidas especially, due to his interest in Bryce.
