A dog-tastic tons of fun book!

As of writing this review on Feb 20th I am still hard at work looking for a dog! So far nothing! So lately I have been looking around for more doggy books. From non-fiction to picture books. Anything. So I had this book on my list for a bit and thanks to my hubby (who gave me this as a birthday present) I got to read it! And BOY, this was so fun, and yes, I could see me do a few of these just to get some pets and love!

In this book we get to see some wonderful, hilarious, silly ways to pet a dog. Because everyone wants to pet a dog, but how would you go about that and why would you do the normal things (like we see in the beginning illustrations) if you can also just drape yourself in bacon? Or hire a bench and find a dog that gets told off all the time by his owner for sitting on the couch. Or play a bush (along with some big twigs) and just be on a route with cute dogs. How hey, sell sticks? Maybe I should try that one. I loved how the book had some really normal things, but as the story progressed got a bit weirder in the ways of getting a dog’s attention. Like, asking a dog/owner to pet said dog is very normal, but launching yourself from a cannon to get to a dog, that is weird and silly and made me laugh so hard. These people are all dedicated! Then again, doggos are ADORABLE.

And I love the illustrations, they are so so much fun and I especially love how the dogs and the person (or people) doing the plans to get some doggo love are in colour while the rest is grey/blue. That is just perfect and just made the plans pop out some more. Plus, hello ALL THE CUTE DOGGGOOOS!

All in all, this was perfect and I am so happy I got to read this one and that this book is now part of my collection. I would highly recommend it to all dog lovers everywhere.

Thank you to Netgalley and BookBuzz.net for an ebook copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I'm a dog lover so when I saw the title of this book I wanted to check it out. This is a cute, fun book about the lengths people could go to in order to pet a dog. For me, I would pet any and every dog, but there are times when it's not appropriated or acceptable. The illustrations showing all of the crazy ways you could ask someone to pet their dog are adorable and fun to look at!

Can I Pet Your Dog starts off by giving people a big caveat: make sure to ask before petting a dog which I thought was a great reminder for people. The book goes through some hilarious and unbelievable ways to pet someone’s dog. It brought some laugh out loud moments, which my own 3 doggies did not appreciate as it disturbed their precious 20 hour nap. A funny cute read that also provides a nice message about pet adoption.

Silly, though not terribly funny, book of ways to get the dog owners let you pet their dog.

It starts off the normal way, by asking if you can pet your dog, to getting more and more silly, as the book progresses, from making friends with pet owners, to pretending you own a dog at the dog part, to using a poll vault stick to jump across a crowded street to pet a dog.

I smiled, but did not laugh. It was that sort of quick read. Good illustrations.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

Dog lovers will adore this book! Even if you don't have a dog you can relate to the funny and cute illustrations of all the ways you could (and probably shouldn't haha) pet a pup.

I loved the inclusivity in both the people and the dogs! The variety was fabulous.

Thank you for netgalley for letting me read an advanced copy of this great book!

Thanks to Netgalley and Chronicle Books for the ARC of this!

As someone who wants to pet all the good boys and girls of the world, this was funny and cute! The dog illustrations were adorable and spoke mostly for themselves with a bit of humorous text. Recommend for any pet lover.

This is a sweet little cartoon book. I thought it was funny with beautiful drawings that I want to hang up on my walls. I think like many people one of my favorite hobbies is petting other people's dogs (after asking!) and this book encapsulates that need and love.
Adorable all the way 10/10

I was expecting this to be a picture book and instead it’s more of a comedic book for adults. Each page is a different graphic illustration on how you could pet a dog. By approaching people, stealing dogs, dripping yourself in bacon so they come to you, etc. The book is fine but not what I was expecting. I would hate to think that somebody meant this for kids because it could get some kids in trouble with the tongue-in-cheek comedy but overall, it was pleasant read and a surprising one.
