Really sucked in by this one - Very Columbo-esque in that we know who did it and we know why but we don’t know if / how they’ll get away with it. I find that much more interesting than a mystery where you’re treated like the investigator and have no sense of dramatic irony

There was a sort of “you’ll never guess it” twist but it felt earned, I really enjoyed this one :) No stone unturned and a lot of tension and suspicion going around the entire time.

Never thought that a mystery book could broke my heart into pieces.

A nice read! Couldn’t put it down at moments but it took some time for the plot to thicken hence why i rated it 3.5! Like i almost dropped it at one point but im so glad i decided otherwise

Well written and interesting. The mix of character development and plot was solid, and I had conflicting feelings for the main characters throughout.

The first book of Keigo-sensei that I read. Like most Japanese writing, this book also has a poignant story with a tinge of sadness. The crime story was very realistic and the characters are brilliantly designed. Kudos to Keigo Higashino. I will read more of his books.

Keigo never failed in writing a story that feels close to reality. The story of this book shows that there's no one in this world who can bare the feeling of guilt. It's important to remember it's never a clever move to sacrifice yourself for other person, no matter how much you love them. I can certainly feel the pain of Mr. X in the end.
