Warning, there is continuous mention and exploration of sexual assault, abuse, and violence through this comic.
The art is stunning. I'm obsessed with the rich colors and almost gauche like texture everyone has. There's so many scenes that I feel like I should be paying to be able to see because they're just so stunning
There's also so much well handled prose and interaction. Every single thing that happens is believable based on established characterization and well crafted plot development.
To be honest, this is the best and most well done retelling of greek mythology I've ever read. This is equivalent to the first time I learned of the myths. The family dynamics and relationship complications that I always wanted more throughly explored as a child are still there. The way Smythe has crafted something that is both a modern retelling and yet remains so steadfastly grounded and true to the original myths is to be lauded. It's something I doubt very many people could successfully do. Yet, she has managed to do so perfectly.
