This books was made up of a bunch of traits I don't love: small town, constantly referencing high school, characters calling each other "baby", and yet somehow I actually really enjoyed it. It was spicy and I really liked Jake's much more common term of endearment fo Marley, "Pretty girl".

So hilarious and sweet! I love how Lucy tells stories.
Jake and Marley have such a wonderful love story. Marley is so broken at the beginning. Through Jake’s gentle but persistent love, she learns to love herself and heal, sharing her newfound strength with all those around her. I almost strangled her towards the end when her doubts resurfaced, but Jake brought her back. And just their banter is fun and relatable.
I LOVE when the main characters are over the age of 30. Who said adults can’t still have l ‘coming of age’ type drama. I also really enjoyed the gender swap of the standard grumpy/sunshine trope

This was not just a romance but a story of someone confronting their demons from high school in a fun and heart warming way. Really enjoyed this.
