I felt like the slang language the main character uses is a bit over the top. I also feel like most of the book is just him doing awful things. I love the second half of the book, though, when he doesn’t get to be an absolute villain all the time. When he is just being his normal awful self, I did not love the book

I think that is not the best book I have red til the moment, but It's clearly the one I have enjoyed the most and I still remember reading as great times. I think that a clockwork orange is my favorite book, as well as the movie is my favorite cinematographic piece.

is goodness in choice or in conditioning?
i thought this book was very thought provoking and interesting. we have alex, an antihero who loves to rape, murder and pillage. but you feel like you have to listen to him because of his smooth, drawn out syntax and charming language. you don't like him, but you want to hear his story. i think it's hard to write a character like that. also, the nadsat slang was difficult but i think it provided a very unique kind of worlbuilding- the story is based around how isolated and shunned the youth are from this future society (which is obviously in our universe because of mentions of WW2 and the Communists) so of course they're going to have their own, barely comprehensible language. overall, i think it was a peetty good book with some shocking r*pe scenes that make me lower my rating. ill make sure to add trigger tags.

This book is not an enjoyable read in the slightest. Despite being a short book it took me far longer to read than it should have (mainly bc I didn’t want to pick it back up when I put it down).
However, the literary devices, use of the “nadsat” language and development of the character, as well as the morality of the doctors, millicents and the narrator himself, make me imagine that this book is incredible when deeply analysed and discussed at length with a group. So while I can see the merits and literary significance, I will never read this book again.
