I loved this book. It's hard to say, but I think this book was even  better than the first book (All of Us Villians). The world and characters were well thought out and it showed how family can influence our thinking. No one was truely good or evil, which humanizes them a lot . The romance was on point and well integrated into the story. The ending destroyed me

Briony's death, Hendry's death, Alistairˋs and Gavin's battle , but of course finally they kissed(so cute <3)

I would say the ending isn't a typical real happy ending, but it fits the book and the story that is told. The trails and their connections to the families were really interesting. I liked how magick and fairy tales were incorporated into the story. All in all, this book was one of the best I've read. 

 

The only thing I would have wished for was that perhaps more important people would have died, since it's supposed to be a tournament about life and death. I think for that just a few died, but at the same time maybe that was for the better  (Idk if I could handle that).

I also kinda hoped maybe the crown would still fall, and someone would be tempted to be cruel and to win the tournament for themselves

I finished this duology because I was curious how it would end, but overall I struggled to enjoy this book and the first one.

I liked the trials and challenges they faced recreating the relics,

but the constant changing of each character's feelings and objectives made it difficult to connect with them. Moments that should've been tense and time-sensitive were filled with drawn out, emotional dialogue which made it seem like they were rarely in actual danger.

My biggest problem with this duology is how it relies on telling rather than showing. It tells you that every character is a villain/monster/bad person, but overall there is little to show this outside of a handful of events. We have to rely on reading their every thought. Everything is spelled out, even to the point where obvious, simple story beats are explained at length, leaving no opportunity for thought or speculation from the reader. 

I enjoyed the world building, setup/involvement of the champions' families and some of the magic, but unfortunately this series fell really flat for me.

This was fun, definitely not my usual kind of read, I did feel like a few things fell kinda flat, but it was fun. I liked Alistair, Hendry,and Gavin, but I found myself being kinda bored with the others though I am almost always like that when a book has switching POVs. Alistair is absolutely my favourite.

This is the best book that I've read all year. (Well, the best duology I've read.) The characters are incredible. The story is incredible. 

The beginning is really fast, the middle stretches for a bit, and the end is just rapid-fire until the Blood Veil comes down - one way or another.
