This book is a good world builder but kind of long for just being a building book. There is no conflict resolution but just setting up for what I assume will be the plot over the next few books. Auren is prisoner of Midas. She is his favored, but he keeps her in a cage. Midas can turn things to gold or give them a gold coating? Midas saved Auren once in their past and so she is bonded to him.
Spoiler Auren also has a golden touch power. We see her use this power to save herself.

Finished in one sitting, made me cry, and actually want to read the next book. All in all a successful slump ender!
Spoiler Nah fr tho I was sobbing when Sail died it's always the ones I adore and I need financial compensation for the emotional damage <\spoiler> Seriously the moment I almost put it down to go to bed the action started to happen and the only thing that was going through my head was it's not funny I have school

So I went into this book with no knowledge of what it was about or what would happen. I have been hearing great things about this book for a while now but nothing could have prepared me for how amazing this was. Personally, it's not like anything I've ever read before. And as soon as this review is posted I'm going to start Glint. I 100,000% recommend this book. I can't wait to see where this goes. I'm honestly so shocked and I have so many questions. This book evoked so many emotions. I was and still very angry at a lot of the characters for the cruel ways they treated Auren and other saddles. I cried and laughed. (Also I want to say that I don't think that this book is a sure way to make you cry or anything. I tend to be an emotional reader. However, I do think that even if you aren't as much of an emotional  reader as me this book will still bring forth the strong emotions.) So stop reading reviews and READ THIS!

So I didn’t love this. I didn’t hate it either. It’s just fell somewhere in the ‘meh’ category for reading. I didn’t really love any of the characters and the plot fell short for me. I’ll possibly give the second a shot since I’ve heard it’s supposed to get better.
