Not a fan. I liked how it began, how everything was described, all the hype for most of the book, but the end was thoroughly disappointing. After the long hype, the end was deflating. This is my second book of the Kay Scarpetta series by Patricia Cornwell, and both the times it was a disappointing read. It's not a book that fills you with satisfaction once you put it down. Deeply unsatisfying.

What?? This was so stupid. Kay can never keep anything a secret, but she's going to keep these videos secret from literally everyone while compromising an investigation of a separate murder? be fr. And Benton, of course, already has seen them. Alsooooo I'm soooo beyond annoyed with the Carrie plotline. It's annoying, and I'm sick of getting 100 pages of her and Lucy's backstory every single book. Move. On.

**I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review**

I will start by saying I have not read any of the other books in this series. I did read reviews and synopsis for the last few, so I wasn't completely lost.
That being said, I still did not enjoy this book much. It seemed very vague to me, there didn't seem to be any real solutions and I'm unsure if this Carrie is even really after them at all.
The relationships also seemed very vague and strained. Her husband did not seem like a husband at all and the niece, Lucy, was extremely unlikable to me. The amount of inner conversation Kay had was a bit too much for my liking.
I'm still interested in reading some of the earlier books in this series, but it will not be anything I rush to get
