Book Challenge - read a book you haven't read since you were a child.
I used to love Nancy Drew mysteries, so I chose to revisit this teen sleuth. Nancy, daughter of a lawyer, is an amateur sleuth. She is asked by her new friend, Ellen, to help her decide if she should take a job with Mrs. Chatman. Also, Ellen's dad has a secret-he was a twin and gifted half of a treasure map. His twin brother had the other half, but they were separated years ago and he hasn't been able to locate him.
Mrs. Chatman's home has some secrets of their own, hidden panels and secret passages.
This was a quick read, reminding me of my childhood reading. What struck me most is the risks Nancy took, her great friendships with the group, but also the wealth she enjoyed.

I’m liking them less and less as I go. I still will keep my fond memories but they are just too ridiculous. Part of it is the time they were written. Anyway. Nostalgia. I think I have about 6 more to re-read and give away.

The nineteenth book of the Nancy Drew adventures has Nancy helping out a friend whose family is searching for the other half of a map that connects to brothers to a buried treasure.
Along the way, Nancy finds herself up against many bad people in search of the other half of the map and whatever the treasure holds. When they are lucky enough to find the truth, Nancy is forced to deceive and trick in order to keep everyone safe and their secret hidden.
This wasn’t my favorite of all the stories, but still very enjoyable.

An awesome mystery, with long-lost twins, kidnappings, and a sailing expedition for buried treasure!
Also, I'm inventing a new term: Ned-eus ex machina. That boy always happens to show up at the right time, be it to rescue Nancy or be her hot date for the night or her ride-or-die on a mystery. Or, sometimes, all three in one day.
