I probably would have rated this book a 4.5 if I read it instead of listening to it. The narrator ruined a lot of this book. The storyline itself is a classic McFadden with a twist I thought I figured out, but didn't see coming. One of her better ones, honestly. But the narrator was horrible. She made the characters sound angry and argumentative the entire time. I will definitely be staying away from books narrated by her in the future.

Why am I reading these books that clearly aren’t for me?

This my first book by this author and it won't be the last. This was still a good book and the author's writing kept me wanting to read more. However, it did go in a direction that isn't that original. I didn't guess the murderer, however.

Reading this book right after reading the coworker also by freida mcfadden wasn't the right choice. It is essentially the same plot line,
the main character is being blaned for murders of someone else and keeps finding things that would convict her of murders she did not convict. Only to find out someone set her up the whole time and wants revenge
I do enjoy Freida's writing style of going from the now to the present to fully set the scene and know why the main character is the way they are now.
