This wasn’t the worst thing I’ve read in the world. I didn’t hate the protagonist or the weak romance. This wasn’t much of a team up between her and her ex and I feel like it was a bit conflicted on what it wanted to be. The mystery was interesting but It wasn’t great the other characters were at bests idiots at worst cruel. There were threads that weren’t closed which may be closed in the sequel idk I won’t read it.

This was a gripping book. It is a very teen YA book but packed such a punch. I loved that the magic system included real-world witchy things, and it felt all to real toward the end of the story. I felt the emotions sincerely as I read along. It challenges many preconceived ideas and shines a light on brainwashing terror and radical acts.
This was a light thriller and got me thinking. I'm glad I picked this one up.
