it's late and i have to watch supernatural so i'll keep it short.

what I liked:
-Albin's style, her phrasing and how she set up the whole concept.
-Jost and Erik (as characters, and I also found the triangle pretty interesting).

what could have been better:
-the explication of the apocalyptic world.
-Ad's (the protagonist) personality, one minute she's a sarcastic badass the next a whiny sixteen year old.
-the ending

what I didn't like:
-the world-building was original but didn't bewitch me (as for example in "the winner's curse").
-Cormac and all the bad people were too stereotyped.

This was a book I was not expecting to like. I brought it on a whim and decided to read it and I finished it in a day. I really really enjoyed it! I loved the writing and felt like I could really immerse myself into the world created. I felt like the protagonist was relatable and interesting and I thought the concept was creative and original.
What I like most with this book is that it was never boring. I didn’t feel like I had to skim read any pages or thought there was any ‘filler chapters’. I can’t wait to pick up the second and third book.

I enjoyed this story. I really like dystopians where the government is really corrupted and the power is centralized, and this book gave me that.

However, I didn't think the writing was that good. The author wasn't really good at explaining things and because of this, and the writing style, I didn't like the book as much as I could have. And of course, there had to be more than one boy in this book too... Why does this always happen? *sigh* Authors, stop it.

Also, that ending... That was just a big mess.
