This was excellent. I think Gimbel has an incredible grasp on so many topics, and this course covered basically all of the major issues that have and are deeply affecting our views of reality - relativity, quantum mechanics, behaviourism, biology, big data, AI, etc. He's a little overzealous in his presentation, but it's not too bad, and his cheesy jokes made heavy content more digestible (if you're not lactose intolerant ;)).

Astonishingly good. Prof Gimbel synthesizes the whole sweep of human thought, from ancient days to modern times, from microcosm to macrocosm, in a supremely erudite and accessible narrative. Re-listening to it even as I type.

This one was not really what I expected, but it was good! Gimbel works his way through the history revelations of scientific revolutions in everything from biology, astronomy, physics, ecology, economics, psychology, technology, and probably a bunch that I'm forgetting. He discusses everything from dark matter to big data (did you know there's apparently a link between how many cotton balls a woman buys and exactly what trimester she's in?!) Some of it went over my head and I didn't feel like it was explained terribly well, but he's really good at pulling in fictional examples of everything, which I LOVE; it makes it really accessible and keeps the drier topics interesting. Also, he slips in some REALLY funny jokes.
I will say that from time to time his cadence gets annoying. I listen to a lot of audiobooks, and there are some people I can listen to for hours, and he is not one of them. Near the end, I was kicking the speed up to 1.20, and that was a good speed, I think.
All in all, though, this is a good one.

These lectures did a stellar job of making me question the nature of reality. The professor covers multiple schools of thought and fields of science while being entertaining and relatable. I highly recommend this lecture in modern philosophy, which is part of Audible's Great Courses series.

This wasn't so much a redefinition of reality as an overview of the sciences we use to define reality and, yes, how those sciences have evolved over time. I found them interesting to listen to if not particularly in-depth on any one subject.
