This book was so emotionally jarring that I bawled my eyes out! It is very sad, but very well written. Definitely read!

Such a great book, and if you’ve ever been to the Ozarks you know that the author does a fantastic job describing the beauty. Growing up in a family of hunters, with both beagles and coon hounds this book really took me back to my childhood. I read through laughter, smiles, and tears. A really beautiful way to reminisce on a childhood long since gone. ❤️

It is a little graphic at times and has animal death.

It's nice that the author was able to reminisce about his childhood, but we should probably leave this book in the past.

The emotional trauma of this one is strong, but it’s also a sweet story at its heart. Full review to come!

What I mean about the book not being diverse is just that it’s really only about 1 boy and his two dogs, and his family sometimes. So not overall racist, but not super diverse either.

My whole family enjoyed this book, me (34F), my husband (36M), our daughter (9F) and our son (6M). We listened to it on Audible on road trips. I read this book as a kid also and loved it then.
