I love love love The Rook, and I've been waiting for this sequel. It was totally worth the wait. It's really lovely to read such action packed stories that focus so strongly on women. Odette and Felicity are just as enjoyable to read as Myfanwy and Shantay, and all four are distinct, well-rounded individual characters (I do wish we'd gotten more Shantay in this story though. I just REALLY love her and want to watch her powers in use for an entire book). The mix of sly wit and humor with gross sci-fi elements really makes this a perfect summer book. I hope we get more in this world in the future.
Moderate: Body horror

Long, fun, and creative! This is a solid sequel to The Rook, and it's a good audiobook for when you need some reliable adventure fantasy/sci fi to get you through the week. I love the dry, dark humor, and Daniel O'Malley has a real talent for writing interesting, complicated, and competent characters.
Graphic: Gore, Violence, and Body horror
Moderate: Blood, Death, Kidnapping, and Murder
