The plot/action was generally good but the ending felt rushed. And there seemed to be quiet a lot repetition of things.
I loved the side characters mostly Pax and their crewmate, they have a great dynamic and were fun. But Rael Aveross was cool too.
I am not that big of a fan of Qui Gon Jin and the whole prophecy stuff just makes me uncomfortable, and it is mostly his book, so not perfect for me. I am not adopting most of the handling of the jedi order and also not all of young Obi Wans characterization from here, just didnt vibe with my interpretation of it.

I found it particularly interesting all that was revealed about the Jedi council and prophecies in this book. Getting to see more in-depth information on these things really did a lot for my connection to the Star Wars universe.
Overall I think this book does all good things for the star wars universe and explains things further in depth that were more glossed over in the movies. This is a great book for people who like Star Wars and want to learn more about what preceded the Skywalker Saga movies.

I will say that the more I dive into Star Wars books and TV shows and go beyond the three trilogies, the more I am super convinced that the Jedi, while they had flaws, were 100% correct about their rules against attachments. And it's like really clear in all media that this doesn't mean they cannot love or have feelings, but a certain kind of possessive and toxic love is a really bad thing and you must work against it if you are a level 10000 Space Wizard with a ton of political and social power. Because you have Qui-Gon and his love for the people he finds in the galaxy, Obi-Wan, his friends, and even the mysterious person he was in love decades before, but he's able to approach this love without fear and anger and he can let things go. And then you've got my boy Rael Averross, who rules, whose love is so tainted by fear and terror at loss that he can't effectively do his job. I loved the parallel.
