This book centers around the family going on a vacation to a fancy resort. Chaos ensues because that is always what happens with the Heffley family. In this book, we get to see Greg getting into all kinds of shenanigans, but we also get to see his whole family getting into shenanigans as well. It has lots of laughs like the other books in the series. There were two moments in this book where 2 random things happened that just felt like convenient plot devices. Neither of them was a big deal, but I did notice and it felt like lazy writing to me. That was my biggest criticism of the book. Overall, it is a real testament to just how good this book series is that I have stuck around through 12 books. The first book in this series came out when I was in 5th or 6th grade and now I am in graduate school, the series is up to its 12th book, and I still enjoy reading about Greg and his family. That is not an easy thing to accomplish for any author, but Jeff Kinney has done it. This book is a great addition to the Wimpy Kid series.

#12 and for now, the last in the series.

Family vacation. They go to a tropical island resort for Christmas. Sun poisoning, teen romance, stomach virus and other things threaten to ruin their vacation. I really liked this one. One of my favorites in the series.
