The depths human beings will go to to soothe a trouble soul are remarkable. Pieces of Her is a story of revenge, of dysfunction, of love, and of family. Underneath it all lies rage and a brokenness that seems as though it will never be healed.

I had no idea which way it was going to go. Some parts dragged but overall it kept me engaged.

I ended up feeling quite meh about this one. Think Slaughter has definitely had stronger novels.

I enjoyed the Netflix show but felt the novel lacked strong characterisations in order to be fully engrossing.

I like the way that Karin Slaughter writes and this was a well told story, but for some reason I wasn't as engaged as I feel like I should have been. This took a lot of effort to pick up and read. I did enjoy the way that it was a good chunk into the book before the storyline about Laura's past started, and the way that there was a significant amount of misleading before things started to click into place. I'll aim to catch up on the netflix version now.

So good! The dual timeline was perfectly done and each chapter ended on a little cliffhanger that kept me turning pages. The character development and twists & turns made this book so solid! I really loved how strong and determined Laura was and how fiercely she protected Andy.

I'm not quite sure what this book was trying to achieve. Although I liked the writing and flew through the book, I just can't figure out what this was meant to be/do. Was it meant to be a mystery? Because the entire plot was so easy to guess, even 60 pages in. Was it meant to be a thriller? Because it wasn't that suspenseful/scary either. I'll definitely check out other Karin Slaughter books, but this one missed the mark for me. Not a bad read at all, but not a very good one either.

also, there was no need for using the f-slur multiple times throughout the book. thanks.

The plot is incredibly easy to guess, especially if you have watched a certain episode of
