Murakami.

Classic Murakami. Loved the atmosphere he always manages to create. I enjoyed reading every page of it.

This book is heartbreaking, yet beautiful at the same time. A simple boy who grew up with regrets, living a life that was evidently perfect on the surface, only to feel hurt on the inside. Murakami continues to weave romance and mystique into beautiful works of art in his books, with this book painting such beautiful settings with various characters who all lead us to a void within ourselves. Gorgeous.

"I didn't feel like I was in my own body; my body was just a lonely, temporary container I happened to be borrowing.”

***

It’s Norwegian Wood except the character is older... and married. The narrative was very personal and reading it made me feel like I was in the man’s head. As always, Murakami ends the book vaguely— though I’d like to believe it was a hopeful ending.
