The story is sweet — I think the voice actor’s narration marred my experience a bit. The voices and accents she affected for some of the characters were kind of annoying.
I liked the characters and the story alright, especially the mystery element, but there was almost too much going on at times. And I didn’t love the sheriff’s gruff, hyper-masculine characterization, though I’m sure it’s an accurate depiction of a lot of Southern law enforcement officers.

I loved that the romance was side by side of the main plot and while we knew the couple would get together, the whole book had enough plot outside of that. I felt the town and its inhabitants were very real. This was a fun one!

This was a fun read. Interesting story and characters. I got pulled from enjoying the story a few times due to some clunky writing, I must stress that most of the book was fine but there were just a couple of passages that had me eye rolling (not enough for me to stop reading, just enough to vaguely annoy).
