ARC read

I don't know how Holly does it. Creates characters who are all so different, yet you love each and every one of them, not in spite of their flaws, but because of them. There's a magic in her writing that I want all the world to see.

I have cried, I have laughed, I have squealed, I have cheered, I have jumped about the kitchen reading while cooking. I have groaned (in a number of different ways....!).

The description of Rob in a backwards cap made me gasp (it's a thing....!), the tension and banter between Hattie and Rob reminded me of real life people ("that explains the ego....!"), and I honestly - among the crying - grinned from ear to ear throughout this read.

I'll be ordering the paperback to add to my Sunshine Book Club pile, and re-reading them over and over again. Cannot WAIT to read Megan's story!!!

I just could not stand either Hattie or Rob. Hattie is just a selfish bitch that only thinks about herself, and Rob needs to learn to take a hint.

Maybe if you quit your ‘Hattie Buchanan, ice queen who doesn’t give a shit about anything’ act you’d be able to truly experience their joy too.”

I hated Hattie and disliked Rob for over half the book. They redeemed themselves in the second half and I’m glad I didn’t DNF this one but I really hated their dynamic to the point that I considered DNFing more than once. I enjoy the author’s writing style and loved The Best Book Boyfriend and Just a Little Crush so I hung on and hoped this one got better and it did!

I found the characters in this a little frustrating, they both acted horribly not just to each other but to everyone around them but without being held accountable at any point. I also felt Rob's possessive behaviour crossed the line at several points - you can be passionate about someone without treating them like a possession.
