I don’t think I can ever not rate one of Cathy’s books at minimum 4*. Captivating and heart wrenching at the same time

I read this book thinking that it would be a lot like a Child called it. And it isn't. It was heart wrenching and I found myself hating the little girl despite everything she's been through and I kind of felt that Cathy was championed for being so caring when she did so much wrong. She did so much wrong and she smissed so much. Of course she wasn't the only one it seems when it came to the little girl everyone missed a lot which is so sad, and really lets people know the horrors of the foster care system and how many children just fall through the cracks. It also reflects badly on the foster care system and made it seem like they didn't care and Cathy was the only one who did. Without fully explaining that the case workers have huge caseloads and families of their own. I just think the book was depressing all around especially since the little girl never got a happy ending...

Upsetting, moving tale of the horrible abuse a young girl suffers at the hands of her own mother and father, and the loving caretaker who takes her in as a foster child. Beware, this doesn't sugarcoat the horrific, shocking treatment that the girl receives. An incredible read, and I plan to read the rest of this author's work.

Absolutely worth reading - any true account of child abuse is shocking, but books like open your eyes to the reality of what some people can do.....

I absolutely love Cathy Glass as usual. She allows you to discover in depth the difficulty of children living in foster care.
The details and the conversations in this book just make you realise what these kids go through.

The cover features a little book, Cathy Glass always chooses to have a child on the front cover, it adds realism to the story and makes you know that the story is a true story.
I really appreciate Cathy giving us so many details and bringing us along with her throughout her journey.
I've never been disappointed by Cathy and she writes perfectly.

Heartbreaking but realisticly written. I don't think I can really say much more.
