As I read it I hoped that in the end they wouldn't go for the trope of everyone around them getting taken out in some way so they had to save the world all on their own with the power of their specialness, because they had great friends and people who supported them. Even the most talented special person needs help right? But no, in the end it happened exactly as I had hoped against.Moderate: Hate crime and Racism

the writing wasn't very special, and i would've liked more detailed descriptions of the magical world Amari finds herself in
It was very cliché, and the characters didn't really make up for that. they where all so one dimensional and i felt like i didn't get to know them at all througout the course of the book. the only interesting character to me was January and she only had like 4 lines.
HowEVER it was still enjoyable to read and i am curious to see how the author will expand the worldbuilding and magic in the next book :)
