Catherine really enjoys seeing all the construction equipment and I enjoy making all the onomatopoetic sounds that accompany the text. I also love what the final product of all the construction is, too. :-)

My son received a set of three of these books for his first birthday and this one is by far his favourite. It's not uncommon for us to finish reading Construction to him and put it away, only for him to immediately bring it back for multiple consecutive re-reads. The rhyming noises keep him interested and the pictures are simple but easy enough for him to identify what's going on - so when the truck appears on one page he goes and retrieves his toy truck and drives it over the page.

Spring 2015 - despite loving [b:Roadwork|2203031|Roadwork|Sally Sutton|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1320489519s/2203031.jpg|2208794], Ben didn't ask for this one again.

July 2016 - read it on repeat for a while. This time around he gets that they're building a library, and is really insistent that the kids are going to the library to play trains at the end. I like this series - the illustrations are really lovely and realistic compared to a lot of construction/things that go type books, and the crews are always diverse - lots of women (or at least folks with ponytails), which is rare in this genre.

Absolute hit with bigger and smaller small humans. Great illustrations and neat way of breaking down the process.

A delightful way to introduce young readers to both the construction process and onomatopoeia. I especially loved that the building was a library!

Using rhyming and onomatopoeias galore, this construction book will appeal to a toddler crowd with its repetition, sounds and vehicles. The fact that the construction vehicles are making a library provides a nice ending to what is usually a very unoriginal topic.

A short, snappy, onomatopoeic look at building a new library. Fun to read aloud.

I’ve read many books about mighty machines and they are not all created equal. But I love this one. It tells the story of construction with lots of sound words (onomatopoeia!) and it starts from the beginning through to the building’s final use. Spoiler alert: it’s a library! I recommend it for your mighty machine loving boys and girls.

Like Roadwork by the same author/illustrator team, Construction was one of those special books that our family never got tired of re-reading out loud from babyhood through preschool. The rhymes are fun to say, the illustrations are lovely, aaaaand it's a vehicle book that includes women! The women on the construction crew even get to drive the big machines!

They are building a library.

This was a lot of fun to read.  The cadence is like a dance, the words like a song, and the actions like a stage direction.  It all works.  And it would be really fun in story time.
