Imagine American Gods but with Halloween monsters, written for YA before YA was a genre (and was neutered), that's what this book felt like. I could easily read more stories about Duke (of Werewolves) and I suppose I could stand it if Earl (of Vampires) must be included. Duke was my favorite by far even if he had so little to say, so stoic but cares so much about helping people, he doesn't say more than needs to be said. Earl's running anxious thoughts felt really familiar to me, and it hurt seeing him so clearly projecting his own insecurities onto how he thinks others perceive him. I'm glad he found Cathy. Though, I'm not sure I can get over the overt 2005 fatshaming throughout the whole book to want to read much more from this author. Maybe somday.

The plot of this book is amazing….The descriptions regarding people? Not my cup of tea😅 Truly a great plot combining multiple different paranormal/supernatural things in a fun way!

As nutty as a fruitcake, Gil's All Fright Diner serves up an unconventional yet peculiar platter of eldritch horrors and other-worldly menu du jour as its meat and potatoes, which might (or might not) stick to one's ribs.
Graphic: Gore and Blood
Moderate: Body shaming, Sexual content, and Fatphobia

This was reviewed as being a funny book, and maybe to some people it is. But it’s funny in that crude way people try to pass off as subversive, but honestly I will always think this is in bad taste. It’s fast paced but still boring to me because I really don’t give a shit.
Minor: Fatphobia

Incredibly fatphobic! A female main character’s weight is mentioned in a very derogatory way about 6 times just in the first chapter.
Graphic: Fatphobia
