"So I'll do that and do my best and if my best isn't good enough at least I will have done everything I could, everything that is in me. I don't have to try to be someone else, someone I could never be."

BEWARE. SPOILERS AHEAD

This book was mind bogglingly amazing. Far too beautiful for our human brains to decipher. Ever since reading the Harry Potter series I haven’t ventured into this realm of kid-friendly books. This series has made me love reading fantasy , especially anything written about Sabriel and Lirael. I never thought I’d like anyone more than I liked Sabriel but Garth Nix proved me wrong; I loved Lirael because of her Bravery, Courage , Relentlessness and her crave to become a normal Clayr. But what Garth Nix drew was a story of initial despair and Lirael’s near suicide attempt and how she overcame her thought of being an outcast through immersing herself in her job as a librarian. Her effective growth through the series as a person who wishes to protect others and the existence of The Disreputable Dog who shall be her dearest companion gave the storyline a sense of family and friend bonds, along with her magnanimous efforts to protect everyone in the library. The other factor that instilled a beautiful quality to the story was the fact that Lirael learned to create charter skins which was something that was never presented in Sabriel’s story. The last time she was at the library when she discovered a hidden path that held things for her ( the flutes ? And the Dark Mirror was quite scary). Her trek down the river that lead her to Hedge and Nick was also quite interesting How the story wrapped up and reassembled for this book (the third) was also extremely interesting and although it was long it was quite entertaining. Especially how they tried to save Nicholas and their several encounters with Hedge and how we were able to see every gate in Death. The Disreputable Dog and Mogget saves the day in this one so I am quite pleased.

A little sad that its over and that the ending didn't give me any closure. I was half-hoping there'd be a book about Nick and an adventure including him, but apparently the next book is going to be about Chlorr. Not quite sure how I feel about that. I feel unsatisfied with the ending but overall it was a really good book. I still like Lirael the best though.

Amazing ending to the trilogy. It pulls everyone from the other two books into the story and it kept me on the edge of my (car)seat the whole time!
