Probably a 3.5 for me. The story was quite complex, and was very intriguing once the crew was gathered for the heist. The whole book (and the ending in particular) portrayed the paranoia of a cyberpunk world quite nicely. However, I'll have to admit I really didn't understand what I was reading until ~chapter 8 or 9. That's the biggest drawback of the book.

The cult classic book that inspired the cult classic movie - The Matrix. Sadly, I found it difficult to get through. I am a very visual reader so I imagine the world and scenes as I read and it was really tough to visualize this book. However I can see why this book was popular when it was released in 1984 - the concepts introduced in the book were prophetic (even if there are some big misses such as cellphones).

I guess I understand why cyberpunk is Like That now. I hope he got some royalties off The Matrix.
