Such a niche book, but SO good! I loved the Titanic aspect of the story.

When a mystery dinner party goes awry, Val Denniston and her grandad assemble a crew to find a murderer. I enjoyed this well written cozy mystery. The characters seemed like real people I could relate to. I was surprised at all the elements the author incorporated into the mystery.
This is book 5 of a series, and though I haven’t read the rest of them, I may have to go read them.
Thank you Netgalley for a copy of this book! Opinions expressed are my own.

I really liked this book. It was fast paced and enjoyble read.
The book is well written, with a likeable cast of characters. There's a good plot that keep you guessing till the end.
I will surely look for other books in this series and look forward to the next one.

This was not my favourite book in the series. It felt very transitional but not in an exciting way. The mystery wasn’t compelling and things just seemed flat.

I hadn't read the books in this series prior to this one, but I definitely plan to. This was a really fun little cozy mystery. The setting and atmosphere were nice, the mystery was solid (I did figure it out before the reveal, but that's half the fun), and the characters (especially Val) were likeable. I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys cozies.

Rating: A solid 3.5 (but I'm giving it a four because of possible biases.)

As a disclaimer, I nabbed this book from a donation pile at work. Murder mysteries are not a genre I would normally reach for, but the campy title and description were hard to pass up.

With that said — this book was a good ass time. This may be a genre thing, but every single page was saturated with speculation. I'm talking SATURATED. Details are constantly being introduced to spin the story's web a little larger, and yet in the end, I had no questions left unanswered.

The main character (Val), who I found pretty unlikeable, was such a nose bag. Obviously the book wouldn't be a murder mystery without her, but sometimes I wished that girl would just mind her own damn business instead of snooping into the lives of others. I would have empathized with her more had her story been a main focal point, but the murder suspects and the details that connected them all together were the true focus. That was my only major critque, but again, it could be a genre thing that I'm just not used to.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Maybe I should step outside of my reading comfort zone more often...
