SMG is one of my faves, and this book was typical Silvia. It was atmospheric, complex colonialist relationships, and fun character. 

Unfortunately the story is missing some of the creepiness that made books like Mexican Gothic above the rest. 

This is a good book, not amazing, but good nonetheless!
