this was brought to my attention after seeing that this was being adapted to film with shailene wooley.

ate this up in practically a day. revealing and intriguing. my interest ranking: maggie, sloane, lina. interesting prose from the author of describing things. explores female desire. read like fiction with how bewildering it was esp maggie. very taboo. the research the author dedicated to create is impressive.

surprised that the title and cover are so plain for such a heavily researched project, it doesn’t give any impression of what it’s actually about

I'm disappointed because the description left me wanting more than what I'd read. Actual representation of the diversity of women's desire. Much more of a focus on trauma, not much analysis or commentary? No sense of closure or reflection on the parts of the main women?

Didn’t love it, I feel like I’ve read stronger narratives that hit the same themes, but it was interesting to compare the three stories and see how gender punishes women in different ways than the men, who seem to not take accountability for the ways they transgress women interpersonally and systemically.

Such an important read. I'll have to sit with these stories and these women for a bit to better appreciate my reactions, thoughts, and feelings. Lisa Taddeo did a very good job of articulating the nuance, breadth, and interplay of female desires and sociocultural expectations, Would be a terrific book club selection for discussion.
All Narrators really elevated the narratives of each woman and helped them leap off of the page.

Lisa Taddeo is such a talented and gifted writer. This book was challenging based on the content, but very well written. Definitely worth checking out, but there are some content warnings.

I have mixed feelings on this one.
The author shares the stories of three women and the details of their relationships with significant men in their lives.  All three stories were engaging and intriguing.  However, they seemed a bit imbalanced to me because Maggie's story (that of a teen who becomes involved with her teacher) could've been a book of its own.  While all the stories were emotional, that one just felt much heavier than the others.

Most of the book is written in straightforward prose that allows for smooth reading, but every now and then, the author hits you with a simile  thrown in that feels forced and takes you out of the book.

I also would've appreciated it if the author had chosen a more diverse group of women.  Perhaps this book concept could be extended into a series that includes some women of color.
