Tell me that you wouldn’t pick up a book titled “I Hate Valentine’s Day” with a giant conversation heart on the cover. It was a quick read—113 pages, if I remember correctly—but it cracked me up. The best part was descriptions of perfect Valentine’s dates. My favorite? The “pretentious grad student” date, which consisted primarily of visiting a bookstore and reading favorite passages of literature to one another. I have to admit… I would totally swoon. (But then, I’m also the nerd who watched PBS and worked a crossword puzzle while OUT with friends this weekend. I am soooo hip.) --notes from 2005
