A quick and haunting read, written in a poetry-like style. I really enjoyed this one and highly recommend if you like old world fairy tales.

The writing style took me a while to get into. This story is written in verse, although I have some mixed feelings about it. It wasn't bad by any means, but it just felt like it was missing something while I was reading it.

In any case, otherwise this story felt impactful, to the point where I'm having a hard time describing my feelings about it, and I mean that in the best way possible. This was both heartbreaking and sweet and I absolutely recommend this book to anyone as it's doing a lot but is able to balance the different things it's trying to do. I am now putting the author's other books on my tbr and am excited to read them at some point in the future.

This was a haunting tale that evokes ghosts of the Holocaust as well as a storybook-esque villain. The writing style was a bit poetic. I loved the Prague setting and it reminded me a bit of The Devil's Arithmetic which I read in middle school. I kinda wish it delved more into the characters, but it was an easy read, especially for its recommended age range.
