Not nearly as good as the first in the series. In this book he’s mostly trapped and trying to escape. Lots of fight scenes.

Initial thoughts: wow, I really enjoyed this book! It's quite different from Orphan X, and it's good to see how Evan reacts outside of his comfort zone. Why do I get the feeling Candy McClure is gonna have a major feature in Hellbent?... I don't really have anything else to say as of now but I can't wait to type up my review!
———————————————————
Evan Smoak is nobody, just a whispered rumour. He helps those in need, but one day he becomes the one in need. Waking up in a place he doesn't recognise, Evan must master his surroundings and figure out how to escape; there are people who need him to save them. But what happens if he can't rescue himself in time?

The Nowhere Man builds on all the drama and intrigue introduced in Orphan X. Gregg Hurwitz puts Evan in a new situation, testing out how he'll react in circumstances he can't control. This book is about Evan, whereas Orphan X focused more on Evan's work. The story develops quickly, and we get glimpses into Evan's past, life before being The Nowhere Man. Through twists, turns and shocking revelations, Gregg Hurwitz writes the story with a familiar ease.

Once again the story is centred around Evan, but this time there are a few other main characters. René is an interesting guy, his motives are unclear at first especially with his ignorance about Evan's identity as The Nowhere Man. I felt bad for Despi, another innocent caught in the crossfire of bad guys doing bad things. Candy had a minuscule role, but I believe she will be a key character in book three, Hellbent due to the small developments in her character from this book.

There wasn't much to criticise about this book; a few little moments which I disliked, but nothing major. Surprisingly, I found the action excessively descriptive and rather boring. I lacked interest in Evan's injuries or the precise way in which he carried out his schemes, and would've preferred the condensed version of action from Orphan X. I also thought Mia and Peter should've had more involvement in the book.

Gregg Hurwitz takes us back into the world of Evan Smoak in this blockbuster sequel to Orphan X. New challenges, new characters, and more plot allows us to discover more about the man named Evan Smoak; his past, present and potential future. The gilded cage in which Evan is locked in gives The Nowhere Man a great story line and heaps of exciting situations. This book makes Evan reconsider his life choices and think deeply about what he will do in the future.

Really cool story! Wasn't sure what to expect since it's the second book of the series and I didn't read the first but I really liked the humanity of the main character. Will probably read more of this series!

Evan Smoak is the Nowhere Man, always able to be found on the other end of a phone line that the people he helps forward on to others. But this time, Evan is the one who needs help, when he’s kidnapped by a violent crazy man who wants to blackmail him for the millions of dollars in his bank account. This book was quite the ride - very intense with lots of twists. I prefer it when Evan is helping others but really liked how the author weaved this experience into Evan’s overall sense of self and purpose. Looking forward to the next one.

Very different from anything I have read before. The writing is phonamonal. As I was reading this I can just see the way it would turn into an action packed movie.

This book just drug on and on and on. I loved the first in the series, that is the only reason I kept with this one. Evan is such a great character but this book was so repetitive. How many times did we need the same fight scenes?
