Lyrical examination of love and race. A 5-star read for me is one that makes me stop reading and marvel over what I just read. Nelson stopped me in my tracks with awe so many times in this slim volume that I thought I might never finish. A beautiful read, but not an easy one.

This book is written so beautifully and magically! The descriptions and the second person narrative just suck you in and make you forget about the world! This is a love story that is so honest and open. There is such emotion, depth and almost a spiritualty to it, like you are talking with a mystic. The incidents of racism really hit home and made me realise that I did not truly understand the feeling of being affected by it and I possibly never truly will. An amazing work of art!
