I appreciate the not-a-selfhelp-book attitude. It's a well-researched book from an accomplished journalist that made me feel better about not feeling better with positive thinking and affirmations.

Probably one of the best self help books I've ever read- specifically because it promised that there is no help for me... but that's ok. And in that being ok, there is help and happiness. It is the anti-self help book and for that reason it was a great comfort to me personally.

Unsettling and fascinating at the same time. I definitely have to re-read this book.

Through positive thinking and related approaches, we seek the safety and solid ground of certainty, of knowing how the future will turn out, of a time in the future when we'll be ceaselessly happy and never have to fear negative emotions again. But in chasing all that, we close down the very faculties that permit the happiness we crave.
