Laura Kaye does it again!!

I have loved her Hard Ink series from the very first book and so far every books in this series I have not been able to put down and actually read them very quickly .

Hard to Serve is a novella and I am happy to say that it is so good. I am glad it is short because I started reading it at 10PM last night and I couldn't put it down and I didn't want to put it down.
Sometimes novellas feel rushed but not this one. It is so very well done.

I do highly recommend this novella and this series. Heck, I recommend all of Laura Kaye's books.

I usually don’t give novellas a 5-star rating, but HARD TO SERVE completely wowed me. And I mean, WOW, in a mouth-hanging-open-with-stars-in-my-eyes sort of way. I was curious to see how Ms. Kaye would start the entryway into her new BDSM-based Blasphemy series, wondering how she’d write a full-on BDSM relationship, and I can tell you that she absolutely delivers. It was incredibly erotic, probably one of the most erotic things I’ve read in awhile, and not just because it’s sexy, but because of the characters. The connection between Kyler and Mia was instinctual and I’m not really sure how Ms. Kaye managed to write their chemistry so flawlessly that I didn’t even read it on the pages, if that makes sense. It was effortless in that way (in being a shorter story it has to be that way to draw in the reader) and formed this immediate tether between the two.

And the sex, guys. The sex. I’ve read quite a bit of erotica and sometimes it seems like things are recycled, but HARD TO SERVE completely flipped a switch. It went there…and I loved it. Kyler felt like a true Master who lived to take care of a woman, and I loved the way Mia was so honest and open with who she is. She stole the show, essentially, because she was a submissive. She held the power, and you could bloody feel it. So flawlessly transparent and bold. Man, I loved her acceptance of herself. If this is just a prequel of what’s to come, with having met some of the other Masters in this book, then I am incredibly excited to see where else Ms. Kaye is going to take us. I am in awe of this book, and I completely impatient for getting more.

Really loved this story, would of given it 5☆ if there had been more! However it was a really great read, it was extremely hot, the two main characters really likable. Plus their was the chance to catch up with some old favourites of mine and a whole set of new characters which left me excited for the new series coming later this year and I would definitely recommend this story to others. :-)

3.5 Hard to Serve Smuggler Stars

I am glad we got a little of the Hard Ink family in this story it helped me connect to these characters.

Mia is unique in the fact she knows what she wants but finding what she want’s isn’t always as easy as one would think.

And Kyler is all about the none commitment and that is cool until he is just pushing to push the good away.

I very much liked the Bdsm aspect of this book I think it was very well done, and the Dom/sub stuff was believable but not over the top.

I think the only thing I didn't really like was that we never really got much of Kyler's rehab and career. We got a lot of the club but not his day job and I would have like a little more of that.

I really liked that narration, she is who I was hoping would be the narrator because she narrated the Hard Ink series and I loved how she narrated that series.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Seriously sizzling hot, awesome story! This was fantastic!

Kyler and Mia were perfect for each other. I've been curious about Kyler since the Hard Ink series so I was thrilled to get to know him more. So strong. So dominant. I love the power he exudes even under stressful circumstances. Mia was great too. A bit fun, totally curious and open. They had magnetic chemistry. Loved the development of their relationship and the openness and trust when it came to their lifestyle. They had a great connection and I found their relationship fascinating. There was a bit of conflict but I love how it all played out.

Laura Kaye is such a great writer, she has this way of pulling me into a story and making me fall in love with all the characters. Even though this was a novella, it didn't feel short to me, it's very much a full, well developed story with an excellent mix of fun, emotion, conflict, and a whole heck of a lot of hot kink. I mean really, wow! It jumps right into the story but it never felt fast paced or hurried. It was laid out great.

Being a huge fan of the Hard Ink series I was thrilled that the guys from the Special Forces team were included. That made me super happy. I truly love the world that the author created, so much much depth and detail. It really is awesome.

I thought this was a fantastic introduction to a new series. Blasphemy and all the Masters intrigue me, making me want more and to know their stories and to delve deeper into their world. This is definitely a hot, entertaining read with just the right mix of emotion. It was everything I could have asked for and then some. :-)

Laura Kaye’s foray into erotic romance is everything I could have wanted! Kyler was a minor character in her Hard Ink series and the introduction into her new erotic series. He is a member of a BDSM club, Blasphemy. Mia, the heroine, is new to Baltimore and eager to explore its BDSM community. What I appreciated about this book is that Mia already knew she was a submissive and what she likes in terms of BDSM. I’ve read far too many erotic books with the heroine being new to the community. It was refreshing to read about a successful heroine who was a peace with her submissive desires and did not have to be introduced to them. She meets Kyler her first night at the club and sparks immediately fly! The main source of conflict in the book comes from Kyler. His family history has taught him that the police force and marriage do not mix and he is hesitant to enter long-term relationship. Add to that, Mia’s father is the police commissioner and Kyler is under internal investigation and you have a powder keg combination!

My only true complaint is that the book was too short and I wanted more of Kyler and Mia! I often have a problem with the novellas because of the lack of time develop the characters and their relationship. However, Laura Kaye expertly used that space and created excellent characters and, perhaps, one of the best erotic romances I’ve read in awhile. I’m hooked for the new series!

Just coming off the high of reading another amazing book by the awesome Laura Kaye! Wow. Kyler & Mia burn up together! When we first met Kyler in the Hard Ink series he became a favorite of mine. The brooding sexy cop with a little mystery. I'm so glad he got his own book! Can't wait to read more about the guys from Blasphemy!
