🐟 Jules is an agoraphobic woman who meets Mack on an aquatics forum. One day he deletes his account, and Jules has to leave to find him, but he is not what she expects.

🐟 I really didn't know what to expect as this is my first dive into a fantasy book but it was brilliant and the spicy scenes 🥵🥵 perfection!
🐟Cat just has a way with words that pulls you into the story and makes it impossible to not be obsessed!

I don’t even know where to begin with this one. I love Cat. I love her writing. So when she said she was writing a fish monster romance and just to trust her- I did.

Jules is an agoraphobic woman who only leaves her apartment to visit the nearby coffee shop. She lives her life online as JulesLikesToSwim in an aquatic forum. Her best friend is MackTheFishGuy- who’s also a member of the forum. They’ve been talking for months and have formed a strong bond.

When Mack randomly decided to leave the forum, Jules is distraught. She finds out where he lives, shows up, and demands answers. And ✨surprise✨ he’s a FISH MAN!

This was so fun. And totally not what I expected at all. Cat threw in so many hilarious fish puns, they were hilarious. And the added aspect of the multiverse?! Loved it.

I still have so many unanswered questions and I would have loved to know more about Mack, but overall this was a fun read.

O-fish-ally finished this book! This book was so much more than just a cute fish monster romance; it tackled some heavy mental health topics in a really deep kind of way. Ms. Cat effortlessly wove in countless fish metaphors and puns throughout the book - that even if it was coming off a heavier section, it had a way of bringing a light-heartedness to it all.

Jules has been feeling a bit…off lately. Her nightmares have made her agoraphobic, she’s been spending most of her time in an aquarium forum, and her best friend is a stranger on the internet: Mackthefishfuy.

Taking all this into account, her reaction to Mack’s abrupt disappearance forum the forum is…understandable. She storms right up to his door and demands he explain himself, setting off a chain of events she did not have on her personal bingo card.

Poor Mack has been holed up by himself ever since he turned into, well, a fish guy. When Jules storms into his life and reintroduces hope, humanity, and passion, he is equal parts thrilled and horrified.

Mack is a precious cinnamon roll with a ✨mouth✨ on him, and Jules is a delightful little weirdo. The two of them are precious together and this was such a fun read with a dramatic sci-fi element that took me by surprise.

First off, I just want to say how lucky I am and feel that Cat trusted me with her very first monster romance <3, I ADORED THEM!!

I am not one to run from a good monster romance, when I found out his man was a fish monster i got too excited, what even IS a fish monster?

Mack and Jules' relationship was new and unique and while the dynamic confused me at first I actually enjoyed a lot by the end. The determination Jules felt when it came to their friendship was really cute to me. I enjoyed the mental health rep that came from it too, I think that anxiety and fear were portrayed very well.

I  liked Mack's character as much as I could... I don't know what it was but it didn't feel like there was too much substance to him.. Sorta just felt like that fish guy that she refused to leave alone but by the end of the story I found myself liking him too.

The plot was fun and silly and unique which made this book that much better to me, and also.. i need Kates book ASAP......

Oft well this was an emotional roller coaster!

I don't think I was expecting this story to be as funny as it was - it's not a funny story, it's romantic, claustrophobic, and at times very, very sad - but Cat Wynn's punny fish moments throughout just had me laughing. Literally ended on a laugh.

I went into this already liking Wynn's writing, and I was intrigued as to how she would approach a monster romance. I love that the 'monsters' aren't monsters at all, they're kind, loving, fragile people who have just started to look different on the outside, and the only 'monstrous' characters are the humans that attempt to manipulate and abuse them. There is dark subject matter here, but it's never the fish people causing it.

This felt to me like classic science fiction, where the world just exists as it does and we just have to go along with it. A lot is left unexplained -
the origins of the fish transformations, how Fishkiller1234 and the others found out about them, what the company they worked for was actually up to
, for example. Personally I liked that. We only knew what Jules knew, and Jules was not a particularly curious person. That lack of curiosity makes sense within her story arc. I do wish we'd had a greater insight into who Mack was, and that we'd been able to spend more time with them settling into their relationship (basically I want more of Mack's chat because it was gooood).

I hope Wynn writes more in this multiverse - bring on the shadow people!

I read an advance copy of this book, my thoughts here are very much my own.

JFC. I got this as an arc. I was completely prepared to not like it. BUT IT'S SO FUCKING GOOD. I don't even know what to say.
Jules is a former model with agoraphobia who really only has 2 friends, Kate, and Mack, her online buddy from an aquarium forum. When Mack suddenly leaves the forums, she freaks out, and braves the world to find him.
I loved everything about this. I love Kate and her 4 weird boyfriends (Does she have a book? It feels like she has to have a book). I love how she pushes herself and refuses to let Mack push her away. A few scenes made me all teary. Oh, and Jason is gross.
Anyway, everyone should read this. Its fantastic.

This book is a bit darker than the usual monster romance but i really enjoyed it. It was funny (fish daddy). And sweet  ( I found you in this world. I can find you in any other world too. It’s not the end) and suspenseful. I loved how relatable the fmc is and her mental health issues. Kate is also the bff everyone deserves.
