Hmm the book chronicles the first 'meeting' of Superman and the boy wonder Shazam/Captain Marvel at Fawcett City.

Its a typical story of a rich megalomaniac starting some mayhem and Superman coming to help solve the problem. In case you guys didn't know, Shazam/Captain Marvel is Billy Batson, a boy who becomes the superhero when he shouts the name Shazam.

The cartoon and drawing style seemed a bit childish - the read was short and meant more for younger audiences I'd say )maybe I'm just spoilt for more mature, themed stories and drawings).

You don't really get to see a very deep interaction between the two juggernauts, nothing that is deep or emotional - it just skims the surface.

Would advise you to read something better!

A short and cute alternate origin and friendship between Superman and Shazam. Honestly wish the later part of the book where Clark meets Billy continued on longer. Action was a bit slow but nothing egregious.

I love both of these characters but this just didn't really work. It felt like a decent prologue, but not much on its own. I'm on the fence about the art as well. It looked good from afar, but close up both Superman and Captain Marvel were a mess.

This is the type of Superman story that I want as a movie, just enough of him in the costume and him out of the costume to hint at his thoughts, without making him Jesus or a super-self-rightious-man. He is human in the best possible way in this, which is what Superman is supposed to be.

My god, I love Billy Batson. His relationship with Superman is everything in this little mini-series.

Also Shazam (the wizard) looks like Saruman.
