Good story. Quite a bit of emphasis on marital cheating for my taste though. There is a small plot hole in the form of Ben that I'd like to have answers for, but it's not that big of a deal.
Seriously considered not continuing with this story but found enough interest to finish. Mostly the characters were easy not to like or sympathize with - lots of disfunction and misogyny. The murder investigation and the personal lives of the characters were clunky particularly in their handling and cross over between the murder story and the personal stories. In the end I was prepared to see how the author chose to resolve the murder while unpacking the lives of those involved. And sadly, I think, no characters had developed really - the unpacking left a sense of sadness, loss and not to much to move forward with.
I liked the tone
Not really a mystery, but more an exploration of feelings and thoughts and fears. Basically a story about the human condition, at least in this one little spot on the Danube.

My main problem with [b:Rain Girl|20538937|Rain Girl|Gabi Kreslehner|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1396833578s/20538937.jpg|15059197] was there was really no character I liked. I wanted to. I tried to. But I can only think of a single individual that actually had any sense of morality. It seemed like we spent more time identifying the character flaws and lack of empathy for their poor choices than we did on the investigation into the murder. That doomed the ideology of this book.
It is a shame since the premise was interesting.

A Kindle First book. This was an easy, nice read.
Gabi Kreslehner is an Austrian author. I enjoyed the characters they interacted well together. The story was written from two perspectives -- the crime and the police detectives. Not overly complex, easy to follow.
I would read her again.

ok, easy read....plot was hard to follow, but at the same time predictable....
I won a free Kindle version of this book through a Goodreads giveaway. I never would have heard of this author otherwise, and I'm glad I've discovered her. Perfect summer read. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
meh. took me at least half-way to get into the story. it kept putting me to sleep! But it wasn't that bad, and I did want to see how it turned out. so I finished it. phew!
The story line kept you guessing for quite a while towards the end of the book. Good read. Recommend it!
