It was fun to read about Mateo/Silver at last! Since I read the Elite 8 series first, he was only ever mentioned in passing. I love the idea of a subby virgin cowboy and their dom porn star lover. Another fun read.

Alright, so I enjoyed this just a touch more than Fool Hearts. I liked seeing Plum Valley in a more progressive and welcoming light than we saw from the beginning of Fool Hearts. Also, all the characters are great. I loved getting more Wyatt and Easton content. Wyatt is such a great friend to Hawthorne, and his snarkiness was hilarious. He has definitely come into his own and become more confident. Now, with our MCs, I loved them both. Hawthorne and Mateo are great, and I really enjoyed their characters as individuals. My only issue is that I didn't really feel a deep emotional connection between them. Their relationship felt forced. They had plenty of sexual chemistry, but their emotional chemistry was lacking to me. Overall, I still enjoyed myself while reading this, and I liked it more than book one, but only by a fraction. I do think I will continue with this series though.

The prose was better than expected compared to the average contemporary romance.  Not sure how to feel about the age gap. Like they’re both grown adults but damn why is it so hard/impossible to find a twink top/bigger bottom pairing that isn’t some age gap shenanigans.

Why do I do this to myself?
I knew she would hurt me but I went in anyway.
