Wonderful dive into ancient Celtic ways! The writer is poetic and the writing itself is beautiful- sometimes there’s an unrelenting beauty to it and I had to re-read some sections but overall I love the book and have taken its message to heart

Just a nice book to pick up to stimulate the mind. Gave me some good reflections.

Here's the thing with O'Donohue. He writes mystically and poetically. I'd rather hear him speak than read his words. Actually, reading it on Kindle is a weird, weird trip. I think this is one of those books that you have to have in print, in hand, with a cup of coffee or a pint of porter at hand, sitting on the deck overlooking a natural scene.

I LOVE the guy, I just find that it's hard to read this particular book in the form that I have it.

I enjoyed hearing O'Donohue's thoughts in audio form, as a bit of a lecture. The structure is different from the later Kindle and print version of the content, but it's pretty similar. In particular, O'Donohue's stories and his descriptions of time and of death from the Celtic perspective were highlights.

Too religious for me. There were, however, some beautiful quotes.

Maybe I just wasn't in the right place to read this, but I found myself unpleasantly lost in the mist of this book. I'm sure there was some organization in some sense, but it often felt that wave after unrelated wave of ideas lapped at my little boat. I was frustrated by the stories that appeared without introduction, without source, without any context at all.

When I heard an interview with this author on NPR, I really enjoyed his style, but I suppose I appreciate it less in writing.

Still, I am sending this book to a friend! I think he will enjoy the emphasis on embodied spirituality and interpersonal connection as a sacred space.
