Hyvin kirjoitettu rauhallisesti etenevä kertomus. Kuitenkin jotenkin etäiseksi jääviä kylmiä henkilöitä.

Omalaatuinen teos, tuli luettua muutamassa päivässä. Paljon analyyttistä pohdintaa. Loppu tietysti jätti suun auki. Mutta olisi voinut jonkun verran tiivistää, vaikka sivujuonteet, pohdiskelut olivat pääsääntöisesti mielenkiintoisia

Lecturing, repetitive, predictable, and way too long. Interesting enough to make me want to finish the book, but the book was close to finishing me first.

this book is quite a mixed bag. the author nails the early part of the book with great commentary on life in academia particularly in both Finland and the US, as well as life in general in both countries. otherwise it was a long, wandering, slow, chopped up story that had no characters i could care about, except perhaps one. it jumped around in time and narration in a way that wasn't very effective for continuing the story forward in any "thriller" type of way, and all the interesting topics that were raised, and there were many, weren't satisfactorily dealt with.

I am not afraid to admit that this book was over my head. Yet, this is not a good thing as it means that the story can't translate to all readers. In the beginning, as I was reading this book, I was willing to forgive this aspect and keep reading. This continued on for about a hundred pages and than I could not let it go. There was nothing to grab me and keep me intrigued in the story or the characters. The voices of the characters were monotone and as were their personalities...one note. This book really could have worked if it had translated better for all readers. Additionally, this story needed engaging characters. Plus, the intensity knob needed to be cranked up to twelve. They know not what they do but I do and I am done with this book.

tää oli tosi mielenkiintoinen ja hyvin kirjoitettu kirja. kieli oli tosi kauniisti kuvailevaa, pitäen samalla mielenkiinnon ja otteensa. petyin vähän loppuosaan ja kirjan lopetukseen. tuntui, että koko kirja johti johonkin suurempaan ja monien henkilöhahmojen kasvutarinat jäi kesken tai mitättömiksi.
